San Francisco music director receives royal accolades 

Nicholas McGegan, the music director of San Francisco’s Philharmonia Baroque for the past 25 years, has been named an officer of the British Empire “for services to music overseas,” according to the Queen’s Birthday Honors list published last weekend. McGegan, 60, was born in England. He has led many orchestras in Europe and the U.S. He lives in San Francisco and Glasgow, Scotland.
