San Francisco man wreaks havoc in Daly City fleeing cops

A 21-year-old San Francisco man faces a flurry of felonies following a hell drive in Daly City in which a cop and motorist were hospitalized.

The man, whose name was not released, was allegedly fleeing cops in a stolen Acura on Junipero Serra Boulevard around 4:30 p.m., Daly City police Sgt. David Mackriss said.

Cops tried to stop him in the area of 87th Street. During the chase, the Acura plowed into a Saturn, which then struck the police car that had been in pursuit, Mackriss said.

The collision also sheared off a fire hydrant, he said.

The cop, the woman and the fleeing driver were injured and transported to the hospital. The severity of the injuries was not immediately known. The San Francisco man faces felony charges of auto theft, evading police and reckless driving, Mackriss said.
