San Francisco hero hack helps nab windshield-smashing madman

A passerby inexplicably punched a taxi cab’s windshield on Wednesday, shattering the glass while the hack sat horrified in driver’s seat, police said.

But a fellow hack came to his rescue.

Just past midnight, the cabbie pulled over to collect fare from passengers at Sutter Street and Van Ness Avenue. That's when the male passerby picked a fight with the cabbie’s windshield, then kept walking, police said.

Another cab driver who witnessed the craziness followed the suspect. He flagged down a cop along the way. The cop called for more officer assistance and they arrested the lunatic, police said.
