San Francisco crooks celebrate city’s diverse locations to steal and rob 

They’ll rob you outside jewelry stores, on Muni, near scenic staircases, you name it.

West Portal Avenue near 14th Avenue
5:15 p.m. Tuesday

A man and woman, both age 52, were robbed outside a jewelry store. The suspect, a 52-year-old man armed with a folding knife, was taken into custody. The male victim suffered a small cut to his chin.

La Salle and Third streets
6:58 p.m. Tuesday

A man in his 20s swiped a 29-year-old man’s cellphone on Muni’s T-Third line and then ran out the back door of the train. The suspect followed him off and was punched. The thug fled with the phone.

Joice Street near California Street
10:10 p.m. Tuesday

A 19-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint in the area of a scenic Nob Hill staircase. The suspect, a man in his 40s, fled with an iPod touch and cash.

Mission Street near 24th Street
11:05 p.m. Tuesday

A 25-year-old man armed with a black semiautomatic handgun entered the back door of a business and robbed a cell phone and cash from a 41-year-old woman before fleeing on foot.
