San Francisco cops on hunt for suspects in fatal Sunset district shooting

Police are hunting two men who shot a 25-year-old San Francisco man dead as he was smoking in front of his Sunset district home early Saturday.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office identified Edgar Yegiyan as the victim. He was shot multiple times in the chest at 35th Avenue and Rivera Street around 1:20 a.m.

The suspects, men in their 20s, were talking to the victim before the shooting, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

“We don’t know if they knew each other,” Esparza said.

At one point one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and opened fire, Esparza said.

Yegiyan was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The suspects fled on foot and there have been no arrests.

Anyone with information about the brazen shooting is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
