That's no way to earn a tip.

An overzealous cab driver choked a passenger after not receiving a gratuity near San Francisco's Buena Vista Park early Sunday morning, police said.

The 37-year-old male victim was driven to the intersection of Central Avenue and Waller Street about 1 a.m. and paid his fare but asked for his change back, which would leave no tip for the driver, police said.

An argument ensued and the victim tried to run away but the driver, described as a man in his 30s, caught up to him and choked him, police said. The driver then fled in the cab with the victim's change.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

No arrest has been made and the victim was unaware what cab company the driver worked for, police said.
