San Francisco budget deliberations getting serious

There’s been a lot of talk about the $380 million deficit and now city officials are diving into the details.

On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors five-member Budget and Finance Committee meets to discuss the large cost of San Francisco’s workforce: fringe benefits, including pension and health care provided.

The committee also starts looking at departments’ proposed budgets for next fiscal year beginning with the Human Services Agency’s budget proposal on Wednesday.

The City’s plan on how much it will spend on its capital needs is also before the committee, which includes how much San Francisco plans to spend on street repairs.
