Nader DeAik, a San Francisco artist, wrote and performed the soccer-themed song “Strike!” for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. For more information, visit

What inspired you to write the song? As a soccer fan and a player I wanted to share my excitement and celebration with soccer fans worldwide with a song that is full of energy and spirit.

How did you become interested in music? I was drawn to music since an early age. Music is a great way to express a feeling, a thought or convey a message.

When did you start playing soccer? Since the moment I started walking, which was at age 1. I was the captain of my high school soccer team, then played college soccer at Creighton University. I also played for Golden Gate University, a local team with the San Francisco Soccer Football league.

What makes you passionate about soccer? Soccer is an art. Having the freedom to use my feet and every inch of my body to dribble, fake, control the ball is an incredible feeling.

Who are you rooting for in the World Cup? My first choice is USA. As a matter of fact, I will be releasing a U.S. version of the song “Strike!” My other choices would be Argentina, France and Algeria.
