San Francisco artist designs new stamp

San Francisco resident Michael Bartalos is the artist and designer of the U.S. Postal Service’s new Latin Jazz Stamp.

The stamp, which was dedicated in The City on Wednesday, celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. Bartalos previously designed the 1996 Marathon stamp.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs through Oct. 15; Sept. 15 was chosen as the starting point because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries.
