San Carlos man held on attempted murder charges in connection with son's shooting

A 66-year-old man allegedly shot his son in their San Carlos home on Wednesday because he apparently thought he had to defend himself, according to law enforcement authorities.

The suspect has been identified as Alan Fisher and faces charges of attempted murder in the shooting of his son, San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said Thursday.

Fisher is accused of shooting his 33-year-old son multiple times in their home in the 800 block of Crestview Drive apparently because he felt he had to defend himself, Rosenblatt said.

The son was reportedly conscious when he was hospitalized and is believed to be stable, Rosenblatt said.

Fisher is currently in custody on no-bail status and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
