SamTrans to increase paratransit, Lifeline fares

Increased paratransit and Lifeline fares will go into effect Thursday, the start of the new fiscal year. The paratransit fare is going up 50 cents to $3.50, while the Lifeline fare is being increased a quarter to $1.75. The hikes were approved last fall to help reduce the budget deficit. Paratransit fares account for about 5 percent of the cost of providing the service.
