Salary of new Muni chief to be less than predecessor

The new Muni executive director is going to be paid a lot — but not as much as his predecessor.

Ed Reiskin, who will join the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency on Aug. 15, is set to receive $294,000 a year for his new job. That’s $14,000 less than what recently-departed Nathaniel Ford made when he headed The City’s transportation agency.

The severance terms of Reiskin’s contract are also less-friendly than the ones Ford enjoyed. If Reiskin is fired by the SFMTA’s seven-person board of directors, he will receive six months base pay.

Ford’s contract allowed him to collect a year’s salary  after he was asked to leave.

On Tuesday, the SFMTA board will vote on the three-year contract with Reiskin.
