Russian renewable energy experts visiting San Francisco

Russian renewable energy experts will spend this week learning about San Francisco and California environmental initiatives.

Pacific Environment, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that focuses on issues affecting the environment of the Pacific Rim, is hosting the delegation from April 3-13.

The international group works extensively in eastern Russia, where energy efficiency is not widely practiced.

The group on Monday is scheduled to visit San Francisco’s Environment Department, where city staff will outline programs that focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency, recycling and green building practices.

On Tuesday, a visit is planned to a large solar panel array on the Moscone Center, a city-owned convention center.

“By hosting exchanges such as this one, we can share valuable information and best practices in alternative energy sources that the delegates can then introduce, promote and facilitate in their regions, ” Pnina Levermore, Program Director for Pacific Environment’s Russia Program, said in a statement.
