Rollins to lead off for Dodgers this season

GLENDALE — Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is set at the top of his batting order with newcomer Jimmy Rollins.

"That's the one guy, I think, we are pretty sure about," Mattingly said Tuesday of his shortstop. "Jimmy is really kind of that lead-off guy.

"Truly, we don't really have anybody else who fits that role," he said.

Rollins, acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on Dec. 19 for four minor league pitchers, will open the Cactus League schedule Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox at Camelback in the leadoff spot.

Mattingly said he saw Rollins hit from first through third for Philadelphia.

"I think on our club, we look at Jimmy as that guy at the top," Mattingly said.

Rollins, a three-time All-Star and the 2007 NL MVP, led off for the Phillies in 19 of 131 starts last season. He batted .243 with 17 homers, 55 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 2014.
