Robber who hit a check-cashing store in San Mateo still at large 

A San Mateo check-cashing store was robbed Monday morning, but the suspect is still at large, according to police.

Around 11 a.m. a man -- described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s -- robbed a Check N Go California, located at 3880 South El Camino Real, with a silver handgun, San Mateo Police Sgt. David Norris said.

Police responded to the location and determined the suspect fled on foot, a vehicle was not involved. No one was injured in the robbery.

Officers saturated the area and conducted an extensive canvass searching for the suspect. He was not located and remains at large.

San Mateo Police continues to actively investigate the case.

The black male is about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a plaid shirt over a gray hooded sweatshirt. He was armed with a silver handgun carried in his waistband. He may have been on foot in the area of 38th Avenue and El Camino Real in San Mateo during the time just before and after 11 a.m.
