Riordan surprises Sacred Heart

Senior Jorge Camacho had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and the second-seeded Riordan Crusaders eased past the Sacred Heart Cathedral Irish 60-39 to claim the Central Coast Section Division III championship.

"I’m really happy tonight," Riordan coach Rich Buckner said. "I didn’t expect this at all. The previous three games against Sacred Heart were so close and I was expecting the same tonight. The kids played a super game, just way above their heads."

Brian Miguel added 17 points, including a trey in the third to pace a game-high 33-13 lead.

Kevin Green made the fourth quarter interesting by tossing in eight straight points from the field to key a 13-4 run for the Irish. Jerry Brown also chipped in 13 on the night.

"They have some great players, some smart players, man, I can’t lie, Camacho said. "But next time, we have to play smarter defense to give us a chance [in NorCals]."
