Rider romps past cold-shooting Canisius 89-65 

Brandon Penn scored 25 points, making a career-high seven 3-pointers, as Rider romped past Canisius 89-65 Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak.

Novar Gadson added 22 points for the Broncs (7-14, 4-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the Golden Griffins missed their first nine field goal attempts and two free throws.

After Canisius (4-15, 1-8) closed to 19-16, Rider went on a 19-2 run to pull away.

The Broncs led 43-22 at halftime, outshooting the Golden Griffins 48 percent (12 of 25) to 18.8 percent (6 of 32).

In the second half, Canisius used a 10-2 run to get within 13, but Rider answered with a 20-3 spurt to lead 79-49 with 5:40 left.

The Broncs had a 50-28 rebounding advantage.

Harold Washington scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half for the Golden Griffins and Gaby Belardo added 19.
