Reunion leaves man drained of his cash

With friends like these.

A 36-year-old victim ran into a thieving old “friend” — described by police as a 27-year-old woman — on the street and they went to the victim’s hotel room in the 1700 block of Market Street on Wednesday, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The man fell asleep on the bed and when he awoke about 2:30 a.m., he saw his “friend” and another man, about 35 years old, holding knives and demanding his cash, Esparza said.

The victim turned over his cash and the crooks fled on foot.

The victim told police he hadn’t seen the woman in quite a long time.
