Retrial begins in slaying of ex-Raider's daughter

A man previously convicted of murdering the daughter of former Raiders player Fred Biletnikoff is back on trial.

Thirty-six-year-old Mohammed Haroon Ali was convicted of murdering 20-year-old Tracey Biletnikoff, his then-girlfriend, on Feb. 16, 1999 after the two got into an argument about his drug use.

Both the defense and prosecution agree that Ali is responsible for her death. But the San Mateo County Times reports ( that the retrial will determine how much time he will serve behind bars.

Ali's conviction was overturned by a federal appeals court in 2009, which found that San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe had dismissed the only two black members of the jury because of their race.

Ali admitted to killing Biletnikoff, whose naked body was found in Redwood City, but seeks a lesser manslaughter conviction.
