Resigned Arts Commissioner gets a top job at Art Institute

The San Francisco Art Institute named former Arts Commission member Jeannene Przyblyski as its new Dean of Academic Affairs.

Przyblyski, the wife of Mayor Gavin Newsom’s resigned campaign guru, Eric Jaye, left the Arts Commission in July, citing stricter conflicts of interest reporting for members of the commission.

Resigning from the commission should free the former chair of Art Institute’s program in History and Theory of Contemporary Art for a job that is sure to take up a lot more of Przyblyski’s time.

Among other things, she’s already the executive director of the San Francisco Bureau of Urban Secrets, “a visual arts and urbanism think tank that incubates and promotes art and political interventions in city life,” and serves as an artist and consultant for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
