Residents barking up right tree

Trees continue to sprout about Russian Hill.

The Russian Hill Neighbors have received more than 70 trees from Rec and Park Department to plant along the Taylor Street sidewalk near Vallejo Street, bordering Ina Coolbrith Park.

This isn’t the first time the neighborhood group has brought nature to their part of The City -- the group also installed trees surrounding the Broadway Tunnel to make it more inviting.

Trees started appearing several weeks after a different kind of tree appeared out of the dirt and grime left by cars entering the tunnel heading east. Through reverse graffiti, one British born artist brought the tunnel to life.

RHN's newest trees will need water to help them grow, but at least residents won't have to worry about them washing away.

The group will start planting the trees in the already weeded and broken up strip of green space Dec. 8.
