Coast Guard boats and helicopters are combing the Bay for a man who reportedly jumped into the chilly waters from Fort Mason Wednesday night.

The Coast Guard received reports that a man may have leapt off a Fort Mason pier after having an “aggravating” phone conversation at around 10 p.m., Lt. William Hanzlik said.

Rescue boats were dispatched to the Bay at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning to search for the missing person, who is described as a white, middle-aged man with curly hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and a gray sweatshirt when he was last seen, according to Hanzlik.

Along with Coast Guard boats and helicopters, the National Park Service and the San Francisco police and fire departments have also dispatched vehicles to search for the man. As of 9 a.m., there was no update to the whereabouts of the man, Hanzlik said.
