Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Calif., returns more of Rangel's 'Dirty Money' than previously reported

Following an inquiries by the Examiner, the office Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Calif., told this newspaper he had directed his staff to donate the money he had received from Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., to charity.

As the author of the article reporting this, I took this to mean that McNerney was donating his most recent contribution from Rangel which was $10,000 he received in the 2008 election cycle, and after Rangel's lengthy list of ethical troubles came to light.

Well, as it turns out Congressman McNerney has gone even further than that. His office tells me he is returning all of the money he's ever received from Rangel -- $21,000.

Again, that makes five congressmen who have now donated $60,000 in Rangel donations to charity. The Examiner's "Dirty Money Watch" has been asking members of Congress who received campaign cash from Rangel whether they will return money since November.
