Regional transit group has new leader at the helm

San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier has been named head of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the regional group in charge of shaping the Bay Area’s long-term transportation policies.

Tissier has been a member of the MTC since 2006, and for the last two years she’s been acting as the group’s vice-chair.

Along with her work on the MTC, she’s been involved in other transportation groups, notably the San Mateo County Transit District, where she sits on the board. She’s also not a fan of congestion pricing on the San Francisco/San Mateo county line.

Along with coordinating transportation goals for the nine-county Bay Area, the MTC allocates hundreds of millions each year to local agencies for transit, infrastructure, and planning projects.
