Regional Pedestrian Safety Summit scheduled for Friday

Walking buffs will get a chance to hear more about the region’s long-term pedestrian plans at a regional conference scheduled for Friday.

The Pedestrian Safety Summit will cover topics ranging from safe-access to schools, new funding opportunities for pedestrian programs, and information services that track the number of walkers in the region.

The forum, which is sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the region’s lead planning and financing body, will feature both local and national pedestrian safety experts. It is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Friday at the MTC’s headquarters at 101 Eighth Street in Oakland.
