Red Carpet: Celebrating all that jazz 

2010 SFJAZZ Gala: The event Saturday at the Four Seasons Hotel included performances by vibe great and honoree Bobby Hutcherson, bluesman Charlie Musselwhite, Les Claypool of Primus and the SFJAZZ Collective. SFJAZZ officials Randall Kline, Srinija Srinivasan and Felice Swapp — excited about plans for a new building in Hayes Valley dedicated to jazz that will be designed by architect Mark Cavagnero — were in attendance at the party, a benefit for the organization’s education programs. 

Legend plays for Tipping Point

Tipping Point Community Benefit: The poverty-fighting organization — this year focusing on bringing integrated health care to children — raised some $6 million
at its benefit Thursday at the Warfield. Founder Daniel Lurie — along with organizers Chris and Bradley James, David Lamond and Kelsey Fithian, Bill and Leigh Matthes, and Jed York — attended the gathering, which featured a performance by singer John Legend.

Edgewood Center fair rocks

‘Rock the Casbah’: The Edgewood Auxiliary hosted its 44th annual fair last week at the Presidio’s Golden Gate Club, with proceeds going to Edgewood Center for Children and Families and programs for Bay Area children and families in crisis. Among the festivities were an evening affair and VIP reception, and a luncheon and shopping bazaar.
