Red Carpet: A little bit of Paris on Union Street 

Café des Amis opening: On Wednesday, proprietors Tim Stannard, Perry Butler and chef Gordon Drysdale opened their highly anticipated French brasserie in Cow Hollow. The 200-seat restaurant features a large, market-driven menu boasting sustainable ingredients in dishes inspired by the south of France and Paris. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night service will keep the place open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.

Gump’s honors Marilu Klar

50th anniversary dinner: Fine-jewelry expert Marilu Klar celebrated five decades with Gump’s, the iconic San Francisco retailer, in a special event at the store July 12. Industry representatives, colleagues and friends gathered to pay tribute to the connoisseur of jade and pearls, who’s known internationally for sourcing high-quality gemstones.
