Recession to bring more people to huge homelessness event

City officials predict tough economic times will bring more than 2,000 people to an event offering services for the homeless on Wednesday.

The 20th Project Homeless Connect event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 10 a.m. More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to be on-hand to help homeless people connect with the under-one-roof services.

The event is expected to draw a larger crowd due to more people struggling financially, organizers said.
