Rec and Park Commission to vote on bike rental vendor

You’ll be able to rent bikes in The City’s parks soon.

The Recreation and Park Department has narrowed its search for a Master Bike Rental concessionaire to one lucky company after a three-person panel sorted out other proposals.

And the winner is Park Wide LLC, a joint venture among three San Francisco bike rental operators; Bay City Bikes, Bike and Roll and Blazing Saddles.

The company would pay a minimum of $130,000 in rent and 18 percent of its profits, in a proposal that will be presented to Rec and Park commissioners Thursday during their meeting in City Hall at 1 p.m.

The presentation does not say how many concessions the company is proposing, but Rec and Park officials in the past said there are more than 200 spots in The City ripe and ready for a bike vendor.
