Queer Arts fest begins by 'Making Room for Wonder'

The 11th annual National Queer Arts Festival opened Sunday with a taste of wonder on the walls and in the halls of SomArts on Brannan Street. The month-long event launched with a reception for the visual arts exhibition "Making Room for Wonder" curated by Tirza True Latimer with Robert Melton.

The festival, showcasing more than 400 artists in 75 events, runs through June 30 at 20 locations. The big lineup includes music, dance, visual art, spoken word, comedy, theater and film. Ticket prices vary, but none are more than $20. Call (415) 864-4124 or visit www.queerculturalcenter.org for details.
