Pushing for Laura’s Law

District 2 Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier will again push for the implementation of Laura’s Law, a piece of 2003 state legislation that makes it easier for authorities to force patients with mental issues to take medication quickly.

Under current rules, judges must determine whether patients are dangerous to themselves or others before undergoing involuntary psychiatric treatment.

Alioto-Pier will make her case at the board’s City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee meeting Monday at 10:30 a.m.
