Public wins Alexandria Theater revamp details

Richmond district residents are about to get a spoonful of sugar: a detailed report on how the downtrodden Alexandria Theater might transform from ugly duckling to ravishing swan.

On April 29, as promised, the folks looking to revamp the site at Geary Boulevard at 18th Avenue into a shinier, modernized version of its current disgusting self will reveal detailed plans to the public.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Richmond Recreation Center, 251 18th Ave., according to Supervisor Eric Mar’s people.

The meeting is a follow-up to a recent community gathering about development plans for the site. The project has been stalled for six years due to typical bureaucratic hold-ups: a blame game between owners and city officials.

Residents have pretty much said enough’s enough, and now The City and owners are working to untangle the red tape and cut some ribbon.

Ain’t that sweet?
