Public invited to view counting for Burlingame district vote

San Mateo County chief elections officer Warren Slocum is opening his office to let the public observe ballot counting for the Burlingame School District all-mail special election. The election, which closes Tuesday, is for a $180 parcel tax that will last 10 years. The California Elections Code allows jurisdictions to begin processing vote-by-mail ballots seven business days before the election closes. Ballot counts cannot be released until 8 p.m. Election Day.
