Public comment period on Hangar One nears end

Today is the last day to submit public comments on the fate of the historic Hangar One at Moffett Field. The hangar, built in 1932 to house a giant airship, was slated for demolition in 2006 after it was found to be leaching toxic materials into the Bay. Preservationists, however, are pushing to save it, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation designated it an “Endangered Historic Place” this year. Comments can be sent to darren.newton@navy.mil.
