Proposed enterprise departments’ budgets coming soon

As The City moves to close its whopping $483 million budget deficit, there are a number of steps in the process and key dates.

May 1 is one of those key dates. That’s when Mayor Gavin Newsom releases the proposed budget for so-called enterprise departments: departments that rely on their own revenues for operational costs and not the general fund, departments like the Public Utilities Commission, the Airport and the Port.

For all other departments, the deadline is June 1. That’s when Newsom must submit a balanced city budget to the Board of Supervisors for review and adoption.
