President Obama addresses 'socialist' and 'Nazi' descriptions on talk radio

CBS "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith shot hoops with the president and asked him some questions this morning.

Smith cautiously inquired if the President was aware that people call him a socialist:

"I've been spending some time out and about listening to talk radio". Smith said, "In the kindest of terms you are sometimes referred to in America as a socialist, the worst of which I've heard is you called a Nazi. . .are you aware of the level enmity that crosses the airwaves that people have made part of their daily conversation?"

"Well, I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it's pretty apparent, and it's troublesome, but keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out," Obama said. "It happens often when you've got an economy that is making people more anxious, and people are feeling like there is a lot of change that needs to take place."
