Power mostly restored following California storms

Service has been restored to most Southern California homes and businesses that lost power for more than a day after wet and windy storms swept through the state.

Southern California Edison says about 700 customers, mostly in the Palm Springs area, remain without electricity Sunday afternoon. Some 25,000 customers lost power early Saturday after power lines fell in desert cities like Cathedral City and Joshua Tree, and north along the coast in Santa Barbara.

A separate storm slammed Yosemite National Park with strong winds that toppled a tree and killed a park employee.

Another front is likely to bring rainfall to the San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship game against the New York Giants.

Forecasters say a storm accompanied by cold temperatures will sweep through Southern California late Sunday into early Monday.
