Possible sexual predator targeting middle school girls

Police say a potential sexual predator has been prowling around middle schools and attempting to lure girls into his car.

There have been three cases since September 9 in which a man has approached girls ages 12 to 15 and asked them to get into his car, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka. the public was warned of the incidents in a newsletter sent out by Capt. David Lazar of the Ingleside Police Station.

It’s not yet clear whether there are multiple suspects or only one, but police officers will be interviewing all the victims further and, if possible, releasing a composite sketch, Tomioka said.

The girls were approached near middle schools in the Outer Mission and in the Ingleside and Taraval police districts. They were asked questions like, “What is your name?” and “How old are you?” and “Do you want a ride home?”, according to a police report.

A suspect has been described as a Filipino male, aged 30 to 35, with a dark complexion muddled with acne. He was seen in a 90’s model 4-door Ford Taurus without hub caps. The license plate may begin with “6JUY”.

Police are encouraging parents to remind their children never to enter a vehicle with someone they don’t know, and not to engage in conversation with strangers. Walking to and from school in groups can help protect children.
