Possible arson fire displaces 12 in Mission

Twelve people were displaced from a residential fire in the Outer Mission this morning, and the residents told firefighters they believe it was set ablaze on purpose.

The single alarm fire was reported at 3:56 a.m. at 85 Caine Ave. When firefighters arrived four minutes later, the flames were in the basement, fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.

The fire crept up to the attic and burned for about an hour.

No injuries were reported.

Arson investigators are usually only at the scene of two-alarm fires, but the residents had said they think it was intentional, Talmadge said.
