Port of San Francisco might advertise at the next Emerald Bowl

The Port of San Francisco hopes to market itself at the next Emerald Bowl game.

The number of fans that attended the Dec. 26 college football game – 40,000 – was higher than during any of the previous years that the bowl has been played at AT&T Park, Port Executive Director Monique Moyer told Port commissioners recently.

Additionally, television viewership was strong, with 8 million fans reported tuning in to watch the game.

Moyer said she hopes to take advantage of the strong viewership this year to help promote the Port, which owns the waterfront land on which the stadium was built.

“My 2010 resolution is to try to get the word port of San Francisco somewhere onto the field,” Moyer said.
