Police union head on bed rest as budget talks heat up

It’s no wonder Police Officers Association President Gary Delagnes didn’t return calls for comment as Mayor Gavin Newsom talked about layoffs and wage concessions Wednesday at the Police Commission. He’s nursing a painful injury.

Word is that Delagnes hurt his ribs over the weekend and will be holed up at home until Tuesday, which makes it a little difficult to tell Newsom that, in so many words, he can forget about wage concessions.

The injury is apparently the result of an accidental fall, according to union Vice President Kevin Martin, who would not answer any more probing questions like where, how, and why?
