Police take barricaded suspect into custody

Police have taken a man into custody who reportedly barricaded himself inside an 89-year-old woman’s home in the Ingleside neighborhood overnight, Officer Grace Gatpandan.

About 6:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the residence near Ashton and Grafton avenues on calls of a family argument, Gatpandan said. The 49-year-old man reportedly entered the woman’s home and got into an argument with her. The woman and other residents then fled the home and the man barricaded himself inside.

The standoff lasted well into Friday morning, with the suspect finally taken into custody just before 9 a.m., Gatpandan said. However, the man was arrested at a different location than the house he was thought to be in. It was unknown Friday morning where he was arrested.

It was also unknown if the man was armed and what charges he faces.

Police said further details would be available later Friday.

The house on the 800 block of Grafton Avenue was searched and secured as of 9:50 a.m., Gatpandan said.
