Police shoot at car dragging an officer in Daly City

A law enforcement officer opened fire on a car during a traffic stop Wednesday night when the driver hit the gas pedal, dragging another officer down a Daly City street.

The officer sustained minor injuries when he was pulled for “a short distance” near Crocker Avenue and Brunswick Street at around 9 p.m., Daly City Police said. It’s unclear whether anyone was hit by gunfire inside the suspect vehicle.

The suspect was able to escape police in the white Chrysler 300. The car was last seen driving north on Brunswick Street, police said.

The incident is being investigated by Daly City Police but the officers involved are not from the department. Rather, they’re part of the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, which is staffed by officers from each of the law enforcement agencies in the county, police said.

Police provided no detailed description of the suspect.
