Police serve warrants for Alameda Halloween shooting

The Alameda and Oakland Police Departments served multiple arrest and search warrants in Oakland this morning as the result of an investigation into the Halloween shooting death of an Alameda High School junior.

Ichinkhorloo Bayarsaikhan, 15, was shot in Alameda at Washington Park, located at 799 Central Ave., shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Alameda police Lt. Art Fuentes said.

Bayarsaikhan was with about 10 of her friends when a group of Asian male teenagers approached the girls and asked for their valuables.

Bayarsaikhan was shot in what police said was a robbery gone wrong.

When an officer responded to the shooting, the suspects fled on an Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus, Fuentes said.

The shooting marked Alameda's first homicide this year, according to Fuentes.

The Alameda Police Department is continuing to ask for the public's help in identifying those responsible for the shooting. The Police Department has set up a hot line that is staffed by an officer 24 hours a day.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to contact the Police Department at (510) 337-8381.
