Police seeking man who intervened in lover’s spat

Was he a hero or a hoodlum?

Police are searching for a man who intervened in a lover’s brawl at a San Francisco gas station by bashing the boyfriend over the head with a bottle, hospitalizing him Sunday.

A 21-year-old man and his girlfriend were arguing at the 76 station at Ocean and Phelan avenues, near City College of San Francisco, about 8:30 p.m.

A man in his early 30s came up from behind the boyfriend and struck him with the bottle, police said. The attacker fled and there was no arrest as of Monday morning.

The belted boyfriend was transported to San Francisco General Hospital. His injury was not life threatening, police said.
