Police seek help in finding suspect who is alleged to have assaulted cop

Police are seeking the public's assistance in apprehending a man who knocked an officer off of a raised Muni platform last month near AT&T Park, Officer Grace Gatpandan said in a statement Thursday.

On Jan. 23, officers conducting an investigation at Fourth and King streets about 5:42 p.m. attempted to stop and question the man, who fled the scene after they stopped him.

During his flight and resistance, Gatpandan said, the suspect knocked an officer off of a raised Muni platform onto the street.

The officer was injured but continued the pursuit, however, the suspect slipped away.

The suspect was reportedly photographed by Muni Metro surveillance footage that police have released to the public.
