Police say Bayview homicide may have been gang-related

A shooting Tuesday night in San Francisco’s Bayview district that left an 18-year-old man dead may have been the result of gang violence, police said Wednesday.

The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Maurice Williamson, of San Francisco.

Police responded to the 200 block of Cashmere Street at about 7:45 p.m. and found Williams outside, a police spokesman said Tuesday night. He had been shot in the head.

Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said investigators believe the killing may have been gang-related.

No arrests have been made, and no suspect description was available.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411.

The shooting is San Francisco’s 49th homicide this year.
