Police respond to second Bayview shooting in two days

Police were called out to the Bayview on reports of shots fired to a location that was within six blocks of a shooting the previous day, Officer Albie Esparza said.

Officers arrived to the intersection of Jamestown Avenue and Jenkins Street about 3 p.m. and located the victim in the shooting.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Esparza said.

Police said the suspect was a man inside a black Honda, which fled the scene toward Bayshore Boulevard.

The shooting is about six blocks from a shooting on Monday that happened around the same time of day at Hawes Street and Gilman Avenue. Bret Harte Elementary School is right around the corner from that location and was locked down during the duration of the police investigation.

The suspects in that case remain unknown, Esparza said, because the victims were not cooperative with police. The victims' injuries in that shooting were also not life threatening.
