Police are searching for a man who allegedly seriously injured a woman earlier this month in an unprovoked attack.

The 38-year-old woman was punched in the face “for no reason” at 11:05 a.m. May 9 at Grant Avenue and Geary Street near Union Square after encountering the man, police said. On Wednesday, police released a sketch of the suspect.

The woman was walking down the street when the attacker called her a derogatory name before hitting her.

She was admitted to an emergency room that day and is still receiving medical treatment weeks after the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man about 5-foot-6 with brown hair. He was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and dirty shoes.

Anyone with information on the suspect should contact police at (415) 575-4444.
