Police on hunt for bank bandit

A bank robbery suspect is on the loose after hitting a Chase Bank branch in San Mateo on Tuesday, according to police.

Around 1 p.m., San Mateo Police said officers and detectives responded to the Chase branch at 1730 South El Camino Real for a robbery.

No one was injured in the robbery, but the suspect walked off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police officials say the suspect — described as a white male in his 30s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall, thin build — was last seen walking away from the bank.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark ball cap with an Arizona Cardinals logo on the front and white mesh in the back. He is said to have worn thick, black square-framed glasses, a green jacket with white stripes and a plaid shirt.

Police are asking for anyone with any information to contact San Mateo Police investigations at (650) 522-7650; secret witness line at (650) 522-7676; text (650) 262-3473; or anonymous e-mail at sanmateo@tipnow.org
